Situated on the banks of the Macleay River, The Garden Kitchen & Bar on Remembrance Way offers a stunning dining experience with some of the best food in Kempsey. Housed in the Old Cheese Factory, this restaurant has been beautifully refurbished to accommodate any function large or small; from laid-back lunches to late-night wining and dining, you’ll find a reason to unwind over a seasonal menu paired with hand-picked wines and cocktails. Those looking to share opt to start with half-shell scallops, soy, chilli and spring onion, or delve into baked brie with honey, thyme, onion relish and crusty bread; move onto char-grilled 36-degree Scotch fillet, rocket, duck fat potatoes and peppercorn sauce. Pasta lovers opt for gnocchi with pangritata, grana Padano, herb oil and mushroom cream sauce.

Amazing food & service
My husband & I visited The Garden Bar and Cafe on Easter Sunday for our wedding anniversary after a recommendation from a friend. The venue has stunning views of the Macleay River.
We shared the Pork Belly Bites as Entree & enjoyed the Barramundi & Gnocchi, with a side of Duck Fat Potatoes.
The food was delicious and fresh, the service was impeccable and we appreciated the lovely complimentary dessert to celebrate our anniversary. We will definitely return & highly recommend

A fantastic restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere and stunning views of the Macleay River. Staff are attentive, friendly and professional. Serving up scrumptious fresh food that was well presented and unique. Great wine and cocktail selection to make the lunch even more special!

Great Lunch
My wife and I ate there last Friday. The attentive service was prompt and discreet. We both shared the Pork Bites with a sensational little salad accompanying it and then had the Barramundi. Outstanding little secret just 3 minutes off the M1. We will definitely be back.

Garden Bar and Kitchen is my go to. They never fail to impress with food, service and outlook. You won’t find better. We are so lucky to have them in our backyard.
