Ayam Buah Keluak
Hailing from Brisbane and was in Sydney looking for dinner… came across this establishment via Google. Took a punt and drove to the restaurant and it was quite late on a Sunday night around 8pm. Nevertheless I started talking to the Uncle and asked if he had Ayam Buah Keluak and he said “Ada”… which means yes.
I didn’t hesitate to order it and also ordered kangkong belacan as my greens.
When the dish came out, the aroma brought back memories when I was just a kid, the eating the Buah Keluak and ain rice…. The aroma was appetising but the taste was scrumptious… immediately brought back me back to my childhood days.
I will definitely come back to this shop when I am in Sydney…

Late-night dinner on a rainy night
Situated directly on busy Parramatta road Auburn and with plenty of parking – literally – around the corner, this Chinese-Malaysian restaurant – Peranakans – offers delicious Nonya food, a fusion between Chinese and Malaysian/Singaporean cuisine. The restaurant has a friendly family-like atmosphere with plenty of locals and regulars, as it appeared, returning for one of their favourite dinners. Unfortunately, the Peranakans only opens on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for lunch and dinner. Our two mains were Nonya-style chicken Biryani with tasty fragrant basmati rice with chicken marinated with aromatic spices. It comes with pickles, yoghurt and salad served on the side. It is lighter than the traditional Pakistani or Indian Biryani. You can finish the richly filled plate. The second dish was Nonya-style beef Rendang consisting of succulent beef slowly stewed in a rich gravy with spices, herbs and chilli and paired well with coconut rice. This, too was a scrumptious dish. In the end, we thoroughly enjoyed our evening at the Peranakans. As one can gather form the many locals, this is the kind of place, you want to go again. Exquisite.

Authentic Nyonya Food
Love the food at this place. The authenticity tastes so much like Singaporean and Malaysian food at those countries. I'm constantly bringing people back to this place to try the various food. My personal favorite is the hainanese boneless chicken. Highly recommend this place for anyone interested in a south east asian dining experience.
