Tucked into the base of Kurrajong Hills, the aptly named Mountain Palace Restaurant has been a favourite destination for Richmond locals wanting a taste of the orient. Boasting a history spanning over three decades, this North Richmond stalwart combines consistently friendly service and mouth-watering meals in a casually refined setting, where brightly lit colourful lanterns add a splash of vibrant charm. An extensive menu is predominantly Chinese, with a few south-east Asian-influenced dishes thrown in for good measure – think fried king prawns served with home-made spicy sambal alongside familiar favourites such as stir fry beef in black bean sauce as well as fried Hokkien noodles with pork fillet and vegetables. Should there be room to spare, indulge in a generous serving of dessert.
