A few words from Margan Restaurant

Margan is a family-owned farm, winery and restaurant, based in historic Broke Fordwich,
Hunter Valley. Margan was established in 1996 by Lisa and Andrew Margan, and the
business now celebrates 30 years. Second generation winemaker Ollie Margan is now also
at the helm giving the brand a fresh, contemporary perspective.

The story of Margan Wines is simple. Estate grown and made and certified sustainably
farmed. Shaping wines from the vineyard to the bottle, allowing the expression of the
variety, the site and the season to do the talking. Margan have 70 hectares of distinguished
vineyards, planted to a mixture of 50-year-old vines, traditional to the Hunter as well as
emerging varieties, planted and pioneered by the family. Most of the vineyards are planted
on the unique volcanic soil of the Fordwich Sill providing the wines with their special sense
of place.

Margan Restaurant has been welcoming guests since 2007 and offers acclaimed farm to
table dining. As the pioneers of agri-dining here in the Hunter, menus feature produce from
the one-hectare Kitchen Garden and Orchard, olive groves, estate-reared Suffolk lambs, bee
hives, and free-range chickens, for a hyper local and seasonal focus.

Relax and dine in comfort in the striking rammed earth restaurant set amongst vineyards
and with sweeping views across the Brokenback range.

The Cellar Door offers guided tasting experiences of a full range of Margan wines, including
new and exclusive releases as well as aged and museum wines.

Connect with the provenance of your wine and food with one of the interactive and guided
experiences where guests tour the garden, vineyards and winery for a behind the scenes
view of the working farm. Add dining options, either casual platters in the Cellar Door or
enjoy relaxed farm to table dining in the acclaimed Restaurant.

Margan are proud to be a five red-star rated winery (Halliday), three times winner of the
Hunter Valley Cellar Door of the Year, Viticulturist and Winemaker of the Year and NSW
Tourism Hall of Fame. Margan Restaurant has been consistently recommended in the SMH
Good Food Guide since opening its doors in 2007

This place, quite simply amazing food and lunch at Margan could possibly be the best dining experience in the country! Having opted for the degustation menu, we were impressed with every morsel, the method, the delivery, the timing, all perfect. The wait staff were attentive and non intrusive, absolute quality of service, the wines were also very, very good. Outstanding, thankyou.

Fantastic location and food to boot. I have eaten here a number of times and never been disappointed. I look forward to going back many times in the future.

Our favourite restaurant in Hunter Valley. We recommend the 30m meal where all the ingredients have been sourced 30 meters from the restaurant. What also impressed us was that they charge the wines at their cellar prices.
