About Kin Japanese BBQ
Hobart locals and visitors say Konichiwa to Japanese-inspired barbeque fare and sake to share at Kin restaurant on Macquarie Street. Reminiscent of an authentic yakitori and sake bar you could stumble across down a laneway in Japan, Kin exudes a moody vibe of charcoal walls adorned with local artists' work, intimate table settings and high stools to perch on while sipping a cocktail. Serving both a ‘feed me' and a la carte menu which changes regularly, most of the dishes are cooked on a traditional yakitori grill such as starters of Tasmanian octopus with yuzu and herb sauce and charred lemon. Perhaps try wallaby eye fillet with a seaweed, wakame, pickle and sea urchin salad, best enjoyed with a yuzu margarita; or delve into succulent barbequed duck, kale three ways and organic hazelnuts.
