About Kafe Kooks - The House of Roti
Roti, but not as you know it, is what has Ultimo foodies returning time and again to Kafe Kooks – The House of Roti on Mountain Street. Step into a chilled-out vibe of trailing greenery, polished concrete and neon signage to experience a taste of Asia, from fresh roti to classic breakfast and lunch wraps and curries. Kook start your day with eggs, bacon, sriracha, hash brown and Hollandaise sauce on a roti paratha, or eggs, caramelised onion, cheese and sambal. Dine later on curries like tangy fish with a tomato and turmeric base, or Indian spiced butter chicken, with sides of steamed rice, cucumber relish, housemade sambal and roti. Perhaps a madtarbak Cuban toastie with roast pork, smoked ham, cheese, pickled cucumber and mustard hits the mark, enjoyed with a glass of Adelaide Shiraz.

Cosy Asian fusion
Pinned between Sydney’s Broadway shopping centre and UTS, the cosy and stylishly decorated Kafé Kooks serves delicious local food, starting the very appetising breakfast at 6am. The Classic Sarang Burung – with bacon and mushroom – is a tasty fusion between a healthy Asia and hearty Aussie breakfast. At the same time, their classic English breakfast offers exactly what English breakfast is supposed to be.
The fusion between a Spanish Churros and Bambu (not the timber) comes filled with almond, chocolate, fruit or sugar – divine pleasure of an almost Hedonistic perception. All of this tasted even better with a Pranda Sticky Chai Latte served in an elegant Alessi plunger, no less.
The 1st Century Roman connoisseur, Apicius, would have loved the Kafé Kooks. After all, he coined the phrase “we eat first with our eyes”. On atmosphere, the exquisite breakfast, the perfect service, and the eye-watering food, the Kafé Kooks delivers. This is a “let’s go again” kind of place.
