Some right but too many wrongs
Booked online and show n to a nice table. Nice room for a pub meal and reasonably busy. Staff were attentive and helpful with pleasant interactions. Menu was not extensive but included a couple of options beyond traditional pub fare. Prices were also higher than most pubs with several options $40 and $50 and up to over $170 for their large rib on the bone. What we ordered was quite nice (French bread, beef pie and lamb shank). However I ordered a beer (Stone and Wood pale ale) which I don’t think is what I got (SWPA is quite distinctive in colour, aroma and taste) but you are never so confident when it comes off the tap to challenge to waiter. However the Pinot that I ordered was also not the one that I received. They also forgot to bring the salad that we ordered, however by the time the main meals came we were happy not to have it. When the bill came the total was more than I thought it should be but items were what we had (no salad) so I paid with a 10% tip based on food and service. When I got home and checked the bill every item had been increased by 10%. It wasn’t a public holiday and there was no signage to mention a 10% surcharge. So in the end they got a 20% tip which in the end did not reflect experience.
