Housed in one of Toowoomba’s most historic buildings, Gip’s Restaurant is an ideal venue for smart, casual dining. Encompassed among old English oak and jacaranda trees, the tranquil garden setting complements an open and contemporary interior, suitable for any occasion. Attune to these sophisticated surrounds, Gip’s menu puts a refined spin on Modern Australian cuisine, offering café-style lunches, a la carte dinners and a comprehensive wine and cocktail selection. Dishes may include tapas plates of duck spring rolls with plum and shallot dipping sauce, before mains such as Moreton Bay bug ravioli, with tiger prawns, bug tail, green asparagus, prosciutto and spicy Vermouth cream sauce. Be sure to save room for lemon curd tart, passionfruit gel, baby meringues, raspberry sorbet and basil.
A few words from Gip's Restaurant
A short overview of Gip's Restaurant!
Clifford House was originally built as a gentlemens club but never completed until James Taylor moved there with his family.
Jon and Julanne McCorley opened Gip's Restaurant in 1999.
Gip was the name of James Taylor's little Jack Russell dog who was buried in the grounds in 1894. His headstone is still there for all to see, and we felt by naming the restaurant after him there would always be a connection.
Originally the restaurant was the old Billiard room with an alfresco area at the front. We have since extended the alfresco area and the function room is now in the original old Clifford House.
The gardens lend themselves to a peaceful dining experience and all types of functions and weddings are held on the premises.
Marquee weddings in the garden are also a popular choice and Gip's is the perfect venue.
Our menu could be mostly described as Modern Australian but our chefs regularly venture outside this 'tag' and produce some wonderful dishes.
Our lunch and dinner menus are totally different, with lunch being a much more casual affair - the menu extending to wraps, pork sliders and burgers as well as main courses. Each day we have a lunch special and a glass of wine for only $26.90.
Our a la carte menu in the evening leans more towards fine dining but we always have a dinner special with a glass of wine for $29.90.
Gip's has a small breakfast menu and is extremely popular for coffee and a selection of house made cakes and biscuits at any time during the day.
We look forward to seeing you at Gip's in the near future.

Our function venue adjoins the restaurant and is in the beautiful old Clifford House (circa 1864). The James Taylor Room in the old sandstone building Clifford House is air conditioned, quiet, and a perfect venue for weddings, parties, corporate events, baby showers and high teas. The lovely French doors open onto the garden which is lit in the evening with fairy lights in the trees and around the circular drive. Alternately our alfresco restaurant is available for all of above.
