A striking heritage-listed sandstone cottage is home to Eschalot restaurant, an award-winning eatery on Old Hume Highway in Berrima. A popular Southern Highlands dining destination since 2003, Eschalot embodies classically refined style with white tablecloths, chandeliers and draped curtains combining to infuse elegance throughout. Sit by a sunny window overlooking the garden and courtyard, or around the fireplace during cooler months, while enjoying a seasonal menu. Dishes may include scallops, morcilla, chicken skin, currants and cauliflower to start; followed by grilled spatchcock, paprika butter, carrot, green olive and herb salad, or plum-glazed duck breast, pressed leg, pomelo, fennel and cucumber. Indulge yourself with a dessert of dark chocolate terrine, blood orange and sea salt.

Entrées may include: Scallops, pickled tunnel mushrooms, spring peas, tamarind brown butter & lemonade foam or Crisp breast & terrine of spatchcock, cornichon gel, nigella seed aioli.
Mains might have you enjoying Lamb rack, cauliflower puree, striped beetroot, rainbow chard & garlic chips or Blue swimmer crab cake, beluga lentils, Iberico ham, squid ink & shiso Bearnaise.
Dessert will have you hankering for more with Garden lemon & kaffir lime souffle, Valrhona chocolate sorbet or Dark chocolate tart, dulce de leche, Robertson ewes' milk ice cream, gold leaf.

WEDDINGS
Eschalot Restaurant is a beautiful 100-year-old stone building situated in Berrima in the Southern Highlands. Their rooms are lit by chandeliers and candles and is intimate and comfortable. It's the perfect place to hold your dream wedding and reception.
With classical gardens surrounding the main dining house, the formal courtyard during summer can also be utilised for weddings and formal functions.
Eschalot is the perfect venue for and we can happily organise anything from a simple cocktail party to a seated set course menu for up to 100 guests.
As an extra service we can also provide a private bar/lounge area, help source entertainment & tailor any menu to suit your specific needs & budget.

I went with a party of 14 people to Eschalot on Saturday 11 April. We originally booked for 8 people but changed to 14 at the last moment. This was obviously difficult as it was Easter but they accommodated us with good grace. The food and service were excellent. I had duck which was superb. Having raised ducks it was obvious that they had sourced the best quality. My fellow diners were equally pleased.We look forward to returning. P. McCullough
