We were delighted with our visit to Beckett’s. The iconic Darling Mills restaurant site sparkles again. A brilliant new local for Glebe. A splendid room, welcoming and warm. A baby grand piano tinkles in the background. Delightful staff. Perfect martinis. A too-many-great-dishes-to-choose-from menu.
As soon as we walked in we felt like we could be in a velvet columned subterranean wine cave anywhere in Europe. We thought the classic cocktail list would quench any thirst (the must try The Chef's Martini, very ‘wet’ and slightly ‘dirty’ was surprisingly smooth). The wine list will appeal to all with a diverse selection – a great by the glass list, all the way to limited magnums.
It’s a smart menu designed for both casual dining (in the front piano lounge) or luxe dining on clothed tables in the back room. We opted for the plush chairs in the restaurant. The food was delicious – tasted like refreshed opulent bistro classics with a subtle twist. We loved the seared tuna, escargots en cocotte, lobster, strawberry foie gras and wagyu rump. We had just enough room left for the delicate Little Marionette Coffee Crème Brûlée.
Beckett's has a new permanent spot on our Top 5 Restaurant List!
