Auction Rooms on Errol Street in North Melbourne is a decade-old institution housed inside an old auction house. The façade is an innocuous, weather-beaten blue and inside concrete floors, distressed brick and open steel beams combine for an industrial chic look. It is a space that emanates character and soul both by day and by night. During the day, it is filled with light as immense window panes soak up the sun and by the night there is a warm amber glow as chandeliers exude a subdued light throughout the space. Perhaps pair an Espresso Martini with a royale beef burger, bacon, special sauce, cheese, lettuce, tomato and dill pickle, on a brioche bun, or delve into a grilled chicken salad with lettuce, radicchio, pickles, cucumber, almonds, Parmesan, cranberries and cured egg yolk.
