A delicious stop for gluten free dumplings

The trendy Asian fusion interior is the perfect setting in which to indulge in my first ever dumplings. The gluten free dumplings were smaller than their gluten counterparts, the skins were a little sticky but the filling in the Italian Chicken was delicious. The rice portion was incredibly generous and contained a bountiful supply of seafood. For dessert I tried both the green tea ice cream and the sweet dumplings, these were easily the highlight of the meal. Service was amazing and we didn't have to wait very long for our meals at all. A wonderful dining experience and definitely a place to revisit.

Bowl Bowl Dumpling Overview

Inspired by the tastes of Sichuan cuisine, Bowl Bowl Dumpling on Smith Street in Collingwood transports diners to the bustling markets of China. A moody vibe awaits, with rustic wooden table settings, overhead glowing suspended lights and authentic china accents, alongside a large wall rack of carefully selected wines and an alfresco area for balmy days - all setting the tone for divine dumplings and sensational street food. Choose from a seasonal menu with lunch temptations such as chicky prawn dumplings with whole prawns, celery, coriander, ginger stock, rice wine and chicken broth – either pan fried or boiled; while dinner guests may be enticed by plates of thinly sliced Mongolian beef, drenched in a sweet soy-based sauce, with green onion and a side of signature Bowl Bowl fried rice.

Best Known For

Yu Xiang eggplant, crispy on the outside, melting within and topped with a rich, sweet and sour sauce.

Smith Street, Collingwood is a food lover’s paradise. With so many good restaurants to choose from, it can be quite a confusing decision. That’s when I turn to fellow bloggers and sites like AGFG (Australian Good Food Guide), especially when trying out a place for the first time. Read the full blog.....

We were off to a brilliant start with The Signature Dumplings. Steamed just right and served in a huge bowl, the dumplings were lightly dressed in a tasty soy and vinegar sauce that offered up an appetising, tangy acidity. The delicate skin of the dumplings enclosed a meaty and flavoursome inner that was well seasoned and offered plenty of flavour. Read the full blog...

Located on Collingwood’s bustling Smith Street, Bowl Bowl Dumpling is a local favourite. The kitchen is led by part owner and head chef Kun Fu who has an impressive resume working in kitchens since he was 17. Starting his culinary journey in his hometown of Chengdu, Sichuan in China, Fu studied and mastered many of the eight famous Chinese cuisines and has a resume including stints at some of Melbourne’s most respected restaurants with world-renowned chefs.
