Enjoy a leisurely drive through Western Australia’s Wheatbelt region to destination restaurant, Alice at the Palace located inside The York Palace Hotel’s heritage listed building on Avon Terrace. Surrounded by the ever-changing colours of the flourishing Avon Valley, Alice at the Palace offers a modern, family friendly restaurant for dining in a country town setting. Showcasing local produce, meals are created with fresh ingredients from nearby farmlands for classic bistro fare. Start with an entree of crumbed pesto arancini balls with garlic aioli, before moving onto mains of crispy skin salmon on green pea risotto with goats cheese, or housemade gnocchi with mushroom sauce. Should you have room to spare, try a mouth-watering morsel of sticky date pudding and caramel sauce for dessert.
Rich slow cooked beef cheeks in wine sauce, served with garlic mash, baby carrots and Brussel leaves.
Alice at the Palace Bistro was born from Nola's desire to run her own restaurant, something which at her advanced old age, she thought she would never achieve. With the purchase of the York Hotel in January 2015 and her 10 years' experience at Faversham House, her poor beleaguered husband, Richard reluctantly agreed to let her ‘get it out of her system'. This is the result. We hope you enjoy your meal with us. All the dishes on the menu are family favourites and we want you to enjoy them too. All the wines and beers have also been trialled by us (well someone had to do it). Max has gazed at most of it, and been a willing partner to taste the leftovers. Please tell us if there is something you would like to see on the menu. We don't promise to add it, but will definitely think it over. Please be kind to our staff – if there is something you would like to discuss regarding the food or service, ask to see Nola. I promise to listen and respond appropriately. Our back of house staff, Head Chef Matt; Sous Chef Verity; Manager Tracey and Willing Wenches – Bernadette, Maria, Laura, Chloe and any other lovelies who drop in from time to time to give us a hand – and finally, Nola & Richard Bliss with the divine Max "Pooch at the Palace",– thank you from the bottom of our tarts for dropping by and taking the time to read this."Begin at the beginning, go on till the end, then stop."
