271 Pierrepoint Road,Tarrington VIC
Located at the foothills of Mount Pierrepoint, this family-owned vineyard has been a Tarrington tourist stopover since 1998. With mineral-rich red soil and a gentle, cool climate punctuated by sunny Summer days, Pierrepoint specialises in Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris wines. The vines are tended with care, hand pruned in Spring, de-budded to reduce the yield and hand harvested in Autumn. Strolling among the vines, guests will see geese, ducks and chickens roaming free, as part of the vineyard’s chemical-free pest control programme. Open seven days a week, taste award-winning wines from the cellar door, teamed with cheese platters and lunch specials; while those wanting to linger longer, can take advantage of bed and breakfast options, including rooms boasting peaceful garden views.
Pierrepoint Bed and Breakfast offers a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of modern life. We are located in the heart of the Western District, five minutes from Chef Michael Hildson's delightful Tarrington restaurant, Café Catalpa, and ten minutes from Hamilton's shops, cafes and restaurants (try Tosca Brown and Darriwill Farm). Offering boutique accommodation as well as wine tasting and local produce from our own Cellar Door, Pierrepoint provides a base for a short stay of relaxation and exploration. Our area offers so much to see and do. The Henty Wine region includes many other lovely wineries, most of which have cellar doors open to the public. We are only an hour away from the coast, so it's easy to pop down to Port Fairy or Warrnambool and enjoy the beautiful beaches there. For those who love the great outdoors, the Grampians offers some stunning hikes, with truly incomparable views out over one of the world's largest lava plains, dotted with sleeping volcanoes. People have been living in this area for tens of thousands of years; what may be the world's oldest permanent settlement, in Heywood, has recently been nominated a UNESCO World Heritage site. Take a tour with a local Gunditjmara guide through Budj Bim Tours. We are open 7 days, 11am – 6pm. Come in and taste an award-winning boutique drop such as the lively 2016 Pierrepoint Nick's Pick Pinot Gris or the 2016 Pierrepoint Pinot Noir, bursting with ripe cranberry and redcurrant notes.
