About Tides Waterfront Dining

With views from the Pacific Ocean, along the Pumicestone Passage to sunsets over the Glasshouse Mountains, there is never a bad table or day at Tides Waterfront Dining in Caloundra. Located upstairs on The Esplanade, watch the sunlight sparkle on the water while sipping an ice-cold glass of Chardonnay as balmy breezes rustle nearby palms and ponder a Mod Oz menu focused on fresh seasonal produce and succulent seafood. Take off on a culinary wave with Hervey Bay scallops, cauliflower puree, chorizo and parsley; before mains such as eye fillet, porcini dauphine, carrot puree, mushroom, spinach and jus, or chicken supreme, charred leek, hazelnut, garlic, zucchini and chicken crisp. For an indulgent finish, delve into smoked chocolate and hazelnut layer cake with caramel chocolate ganache.

Outstanding restaurant
The venue is outstanding. Even from inside the restaurant there is a view over the northern end of Pumicestone Passage; lunch sitting on the balcony overlooking the beach and the northern end of Bribie Island is wonderful. On a sunny day with a beautiful ocean breeze it couldn't be bettered. Having eaten there several times I have found the staff to be very friendly and attentive; they are genuinely interested in their customers dining experience. One of the wonderful things about their staff is that if it's not too busy they are happy to enter into some friendly banter which makes for an exceptionally enjoyable experience. So many modern-day floor staff seem to have lost this ability to make customers feel really friendly by being very or too business like. The quality of the food is unexpectedly good for a regional restaurant; this obviously explains its AGFG awards. I understand from a local newspaper article that they were voted best seafood restaurant on the southern end of the Sunshine Coast. I have had their Seared scallops several times and yhey always been excellently cooked. Their local grilled seafood with fish, bugs, prawns and scallops is truely unforgettable. For someone with a sweet tooth like myself I find it hard to choose between their dessert offerings, however, I don't think you can go past their Nutella creme, banana, salted pretzel and hazelnut desert. I will be back many times in the future. A truely outstanding place to eat on all aspects.

My husband and I had a superb lunch today (14/01/2016) at Tides, the views, the service and food all perfect. Kerry and Tony looked after us, these guys know what they are doing. A lovely memory - thank you so much.

My wife and I had dinner at Tides whilst recently on holidays from NSW. We both agree it was the best seafood meal we've had, we'll be back again soon we hope.
