Chef of the Year 2009 Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide, Justin North is the chef and proprietor of some of Sydney’s most well known eateries including Bécasse and Etch restaurants, Plan B, Le Grand Cafe and the recently launched Charlie & Co.
He is the author of two books; Bécasse and French Lessons. Justin began his culinary career in New Zealand in 1992. In November 2001 Justin opened his first restaurant - Bécasse in Surry Hills with his wife Georgia.
Bécasse met with instant critical and public acclaim and was named Best New Restaurant in 2002 and Best European Restaurant in Australia 2004 by the Restaurant & Catering Association.
Justin is passionate about “ethical eating” and sustainable produce. He’s been a regular host of popular Producer’s Lunch Forum highlighting the work of Australia’s most innovative and dynamic producers and makes and regularly appears at food and wine shows, such as the inaugural Margaret River Gourmet Escape.
