About The Melbourne Cellar Door

Those looking for after-work drinks and a bite to eat in Southbank head to The Melbourne Cellar Door on Dukes Walk at South Wharf. This trendy wine bar is a sibling to The Valley Cellar Door in Moonee Ponds and rocks a chilled-out vibe of wine barrels, fairy lights and leather couches to recline on while sipping a vino, or craft beer of choice. If wine is your thing, you’ve come to the right place with more than 500 bottles lining the shelves as well as rotating craft beers on tap to go with pizzas, burgers, charcuterie boards and pasta dishes. Sip a glass of Shiraz as you enjoy chorizo croquettes with chilli hair, or cured salmon ceviche, citrus segments, basil oil, citrus dressing, lemon and dill; before slow-cooked lamb shank, Mediterranean couscous, baby carrots and Brussels sprouts.

A few words from The Melbourne Cellar Door

Melbourne Cellar Door was established in March 2018 by brothers Mark and Tony Pendreich, bringing together their passion for hospitality, quality produce, and thoughtfully curated drinks.

Located in the heart of South Wharf, Melbourne Cellar Door has evolved into a refined yet welcoming restaurant, bar, and events space—offering a seamless blend of elevated dining and relaxed atmosphere in one of Melbourne's most vibrant precincts.

The menu showcases modern Australian favourites, including premium grass-fed steaks sourced exclusively from the Goulburn Valley, alongside handcrafted pastas, pizzas, and seasonal chef specials. Designed to be both approachable and elevated, the offering caters to everything from casual lunches to special occasions.

In early 2023, the venue expanded with the introduction of Dukes Distillery, transforming the former barrel room into a working distillery and bar. Here, small-batch gin, vodka, and vermouth are crafted in-house and featured across a curated drinks list, alongside an extensive range of wines, craft beers, and signature cocktails—including refreshing spritz options such as Bella Spritz.

Melbourne Cellar Door is also a versatile destination for functions and private events, welcoming both intimate gatherings and larger celebrations. With no venue hire fee and flexible minimum spend options, it offers an accessible yet elevated setting for any occasion.

Throughout the week, a curated lineup of in-house experiences—including weekday lunch specials, happy hours, steak nights, parma nights, oyster happy hours, and the signature A.S.A.P (A Spritz & A Pasta)—ensures there is always something to enjoy.

Warm, inviting, and constantly evolving, Melbourne Cellar Door continues to bring together great food, quality drinks, and genuine hospitality in a space designed for every kind of guest.
