The paddle steamers of the inland river system began operations in the 1850s. During their hey-day riverboats played a pivotal role providing an important means of transport for the inhabitants of the Riverina. Today road links have overshadowed the steamer trade however the inland rivers remains a great place for recreational riverboats offering a unique and relaxing tourism experience. The Murrumbidgee River is also ideal for fishing, canoeing, swimming, picnics & riverside walks.
