Situated on buzzing King Street, close to Southbank, Crown Casino & Etihad Stadium, this venue is the perfect spot for a tasty meal before the game or before a night on the town. Bergerac Restaurant has been a long-time lunch favourite amongst local office workers, offering a quintessential French Bistro feel; the epitome of a traditionally Parisian influenced brasserie, right in Melbourne's bustling CBD. Its alluring appeal is created by rich leather banquettes, mirrored walls, plush seating, linen-clad tables, sweeping drapes and the highly knowledgeable French accented staff, whose precise service and skill is impeccable, as one would expect!

Savour eclectic French provincial cuisine in a Parisian Bistro style setting. The menu offers a majority of traditional fanfare yet a small portion of meals have a more creative/contemporary side. Savour complimentary baguettes served with your meal and indulge in all your favourites including must-try entrees like the ‘Soupe a l'Ognion' (French onion soup served with cheese croutons) or ‘Escargots a la Bourguigonne' (a dozen garlic snails served in an earthenware ramequin). Mains include delicately flavoured French specialities like the ‘Confit de Canard a L'Orange'; ‘Duck Confit' or the tender ‘Steak aux deux Poivres' (a peppered eye fillet in a cream and brandy sauce with black and green peppercorns).

The wine list boasts a superb range of French and Australian wines, through to exceptional boutique wines with approximately 10 wines on offer by the glass.

Bergerac is named after a charming little provincial town in Perigord Region and is located some 89km east of hustling Bordeaux. It is therefore not surprising that the wine maker of Bergerac have adopted Edmond Rostand's swaggering hero; the count of Bergerac, famed for his large nose, as their symbol. Everywhere you go in the region, you will see posters that show the fancily dressed gentlemen with large noses, along with the slogan 'Un Vin qui a du Nez' which roughly translated means 'A Wine with a Good Nose'. Bergerac is the home of both good food and pleasant wines.

It is also the birth place of two very important persons: 'Cyrano de Bergerac' and the chef-owner 'Jean-Francois!'

The atmosphere and wait staff terrific and very helpful. However the first let down was by the supposedly top price imported "French Kronenbourg 1666 bier" that was actually brewed in Australia by Fosters as said the bottle label! The ESCARGOTS A` LA BOURGUIGNONNE were so over done with the garlic, they had no other flavour, probably tinned snails from China, presentation was as good however as many I have had around France except they did not have proper French 2 tine escargot forks but supplied 3 tine English prawn forks. The Scampi in the BOUILLABAISSE ROYALE were frozen and floury with no real taste and the whole Bouillabaisse had not been cooked together in the one pot, just arranged and the fish and tomato stock poured over it, not a "Real Traditional" Bouillabaisse. The Coquille St. Jacques were good except no roe on the scallop so they could have been punched clam meat, and may have been frozen. The Cote De Boeuf Bearnaise was great, tender and well presented. The menus you have for download are out of date as well as the pricing! The prices for main dishes is now $29 to $35. Entrees from $10 to $18! The most annoying thing is having to pay $7 to $9 for vegetables or salad on top of the cost for the main dish!
