Upon staying in one of the distinctive cottages with a 360 degree panoramic of the Scenic Rim, the stunning view compliments a distinctively rural stay. Once you’ve booked into your preferred accommodation, owners Jennifer and Barry have stopped at nothing to ensure your stay is seamlessly calm. A few appetizing options include indulging with their catered meal options or partaking in wine tasting with antipasto on a Saturday afternoon; or perhaps you’d like a picnic hamper put together especially for you.

PICTURE PERFECT BARNEY CREEK VINEYARD COTTAGES
Barney Creek Vineyard Cottages offers a tranquil retreat with distinct accommodation settings that will form long lasting memories of the perfect getaway. As you drive through the dairy farms and cattle properties near Rathdowney the scenery changes dramatically. Soon you are dwarfed by the towering heights of the Scenic Rim.

Tucked away in the middle of this picture you will find Barney Creek Vineyard Cottages. Set on forty acres in its own small valley between Mt. Maroon and Mt. Barney, it is 18 kilometres from Rathdowney and an hour and a half from Brisbane CBD. The property lies at the confluence of The Logan River and Mt Barney Creek, so that 80% of the boundary is a watercourse.

BARNEY CREEK ACCOMMODATION
The cottages are owned and built by husband and wife team, Barry Marshall and Jennifer Seale. They have been blended into a naturally beautiful environment that includes the vineyard, 2 creek frontages, the lake and a rambling country garden with great vistas to the mountains.

Their Uncle Leo passed away in 2002 and with the inheritance he left them, they developed "Leo's Block" vineyard in his memory. With the help and guidance of "Master of Wine" Peter Scudamore Smith, the aim is to produce small quantities of high quality wines for the enrichment of the guests' stay. The tiny 1.5 acre vineyard is in its second vintage this year, produced nearly 2 tonnes of grapes yielding some 1500 bottles.

WINING & DINING AT BARNEY CREEK
Food and wine is a passion for Jennifer who loves going to cooking schools to pick up new ideas for the Barney Creek menu. It may be an antipasto platter served by the pool with a bottle of wine or a full 3 course candlelit dinner served to your cosy dining nook. There is no set menu but plenty of suggestions to tempt your tastebuds.

Think picnic hampers, boules in the vineyard and long creek side walks; or sleep in, watch the mists rise off the lake and creeks, herald the new vintage, and taste the wines with a cheese or antipasto platter; or enjoy a good read in a comfy chair. Light the fire and tuck into a Moroccan lamb roast and a bottle of aged Shiraz and good coffee, topped off with Port and chocolates.

Try a wine tasting lunch by the pool, catch a fish in the creek or cool off in either! When the sun goes down enjoy the cool, less humid summer nights.
