Tran's Restaurant Overview

Packed tables and nightly queues will attest that Tran’s Restaurant in Mosman offers some of the best Vietnamese food in Sydney. Opened in 1995, this multi-award winning north shore eatery has earned itself a formidable fan base. Sunny yellow walls and a cosy ambience reflect the charming service, led by co-owner Tri. His wife Lanna looks after the kitchen, producing authentic Vietnamese dishes bursting with fresh, crisp herbs and vegetables and intricate flavours. The crispy rice pancake stuffed with prawns, barbecue pork and bean sprouts, served with mixed leaves and nuoc cham has a reputation all of its own, as does the lemongrass pork belly, thinly sliced and served atop rice noodles with fresh mint, lime juice and fish sauce.

Introduction to Head Chef Lanna Tran at Tran's Restaurant, 523 Military Road, Mosman, Sydney.

Was born in Ca Mau, the most southern part of Vietnam, where her family home is surrounded by the Pacific ocean, the Mekong river, rice farm, herb garden and cattles. Growing up in an environment where a simple Vietnamese philosophy "a healthy mind in a healthy body" has a strong influent in her cooking.

At a very early age, Lanna was already fascinated with food preparation and cooking as she watched her farther de-boned the whole fish and put all back perfectly on the dining table. Her cooking pays special attention to details and taste with the emphasis on the freshness and fineness ingredients. She grows her own herbs and carefully selected them nightly for her dishes. A Sydney food critics wrote:"The secret of Lanna delicious dishes is a combination of fresh and fragrant produce, cooked to perfection with subtle flavours and mouth-watering sauces emitting splendid aromas".

In 1995, Lanna decided to join the 3S (Stress, Sweat and Smile) industry so she opened Tran's Restaurant at Mosman. Tran's has since won a number of State and Metropolitan awards including Best Asian Pacific restaurant, Best Specialty Restaurant of the year.
