Akaiito + Madeleine de Proust Collab for Mother’s Day

Calling all Mothers looking for a Japanese fine dining experience this Mother’s Day!

From Thursday, May 9 until the big day on Sunday, May 12 all Mothers dining at Melbourne Chef-hatted Akaiito on Flinders Lane in the heart of the city will receive a special gift bag of two limited edition Madeleines in addition to their meal at no extra charge.

Madeleine de Proust is a new and unique patisserie specialising in the art of Madeleines – it is a culinary homage to Marcel Proust’s famous literary reference, where Madeleines evoke memories and nostalgia.

All Mothers and motherly figures dining at this beautiful restaurant, where a dazzling Red Thread of Fate light fixture twists its way across the dining room, will receive two new flavoured Madeleines:

The Hojicha – with hojicha ganache, umeshu ganache and hojicha chocolate garnish - and the Matcha – with matcha buttercream and strawberry jam in a strawberry chocolate shell.

Creator Hyoju Park believes pastries should be an avenue of pure joy, engaging every sense, evoking longing and tantalising the palate.

Her fascination with pastries took root in South Korea, where a televised pastry-making session captured her youthful heart. Her commitment to the craft led her to iconic culinary instutitions like The Langham, London and Mingles, Seoul.
