About Blue Pyrenees Estate

Blue Pyrenees Estate is located on the outskirts of the scenic town of Avoca, in the foothills of the Pyrenees mountain range in central Victoria; less than two hours drive from Melbourne & just 70 kilometres out of Ballarat. Established in 1963 Blue Pyrenees Estate was among the modern Australian wine industry's first ventures into cool climate viticulture.

Enjoy Blue Pyrenees Estate range of award winning wines, whilst indulging in the menu delights on offer and exploring the picturesque surrounds of the grand estate. Blue Pyrenees Estate provides a truly tranquil environment to relax and unwind; sip on sumptuous wines, catch up on some well-deserved respite whilst taking in the views which are as impressive and awe-inspiring as the estate; surrounded by the picturesque blue-hued Pyrenees range named for its raw beauty and similarity to the Pyrenees mountains bordering France and Spain.

Established in 1963 as Château Remy by the then owners of the great Champagne houses of Krug and Charles Heidsieck, Blue Pyrenees Estate was among the modern Australian wine industry's first ventures into cool climate viticulture.

Ample amounts of sunshine ensure the grapes ripen to full maturity with the heat moderated by high altitude vineyards and southerly ocean winds. The climate is warm enough to give concentration and power, yet cool enough to give vibrancy and elegance, resulting in remarkable wines from Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

‘Vision, tradition and quirks of history have shaped the evolution of Blue Pyrenees, a company arguably best known for its prestige portfolio of sparkling wines,' said senior winemaker Andrew Koerner. The painting on the label is reproduced from the original oil painting by the respected artist Lorrie Banks. It depicts moonlight over the vineyards and was painted in 1985 and represents the Estate signature.

With spectacular views of the local Pyrenees mountain range to the south, Blue Pyrenees Estate, Restaurant and Cellar door is an spectacular destination for a relaxing bite to eat and a must-do adventure when exploring this breath-taking region.

Savour the entire Blue Pyrenees unique experience and immerse yourself in its beauty; relish the mouth-watering menu options and choose from an array of eclectic dishes, gourmet platters and superbly matched wines. Dine inside or alfresco or catch up with family in the extensive picnic and BBQ areas or over a game of petanque on the piste. Explore the underground cellars, art displays or capture a full experience in the vineyard tours.

Spoil yourself and take some time to appreciate the things that really matter; fine food and first-class wines!
