Glass Artists' Gallery Overview

Glass Artists' Gallery is situated ten minutes from the CBD and walking distance from Darling Harbour. As well as maintaining a wide range of work on display, the Gallery has a programme of changing exhibitions that focus on the diverse and unique uses of glass in contemporary arts practice. The Gallery has exhibited internationally since 1991 in major expositions such as SOFA in Chicago and New York, ‘Tresors’ in Singapore, COLLECT at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, and ART TAIPEI.

CONTEMPORARY
The Glass Artists' Gallery was established in 1982 by Maureen Cahill, a seminal figure in the Australian Contemporary Glass Movement. The Glass Artists' Gallery is Australia's foremost contemporary glass gallery and is the collectors' choice for accessing exceptional works by emerging and established Australian Artists working in glass.

ACCESSIBILITY
Situated only ten minutes from the CBD and walking distance from Darling Harbour, the Gallery is easily accessible from the city. As well as maintaining a wide range of work on display, the Gallery has a programme of changing exhibitions that focus on the diverse and unique uses of glass in contemporary arts practice. Maureen co-founded the Ranamok Glass Prize with Andy Plommer, this prize is significant initiative recognising excellence of Australian and New Zealand glass artists.

The Gallery has a resource centre for anyone wishing to commission artists. This resource provides information to designers and architects interested in using glass for architectural applications.

INTERNATIONAL
The Gallery has exhibited internationally since 1991 in major expositions in Chicago, New York, Singapore and London. The success of these exhibitions is measured by the constant demand for Australian glass artists' work by major public and private collections both in Australia and overseas. Most recently at Collect Saatchi Gallery London and Art London Chelsea.

History

Glass Artists’ Gallery was established in Paddington 1982 as a need for a venue to exhibit glass as an art form from the initial graduates from the first full time glass course in Australia which commenced at Sydney College of the Arts, Glass Studio, Visual Arts in 1978.
