About Kuranda

Kuranda is in the Tropical North Queensland Region located in the state of Queensland. The post code for Kuranda is 4872.

Kuranda on the eastern edge of the Tableland is best known for its railway line to Cairns. Completed in 1888 the track climbs 305 metres in 19 kilometres, has 15 tunnels and in one section clings to the side of a 244 metre precipice. Construction of the railway took four years and the lives of 20 workers.
