Book Review: Baby Food Bible by Julia Tellidis and Lauren Skora

By Leigh O’Connor.

From the team behind Bable comes a new cookbook of nutritionist-approved recipes, each carefully considered to provide the whole family with a balanced diet.

‘Baby Food Bible’ – written by Sydney-based qualified nutritionist Julia Tellidis and baby nutrition consultant Lauren Skora – is the go-to guide for feeding your baby from the very first bite to toddlerhood and beyond.

Every recipe is designed for modern, time-poor parents who want to make sure they are giving their child every nutrient they need.

Julia is passionate about holistic health and the food as medicine philosophy. After she had her first child, George, she felt compelled to use her knowledge and learnings to educate other new parents; her goal for Bable is to help parents feel empowered about making better nutritional decisions in the crucial first years of their child’s life.

Lauren became a published author at 23 years old and spent 10 years in the fashion industry, specialising in graphic design, marketing and creative direction. She became involved with baby nutrition after having her daughter, Frankie, and has since become a certified nutrition consultant.

She has melded her knowledge of design and nutrition to make Bable the go-to place for everyday food hacks and simple, highly nutritious recipes the whole family will enjoy.

Each recipe comes with an age recommendation, details of dietary ingredients, lunchbox and freezer instructions, swap-out and storage suggestions, making this a fool-proof cookbook for new Mums.

From breakfast to pram pleasers, lunchboxes, easy dinners and even sweets, ‘Baby Food Bible’ will show you how to create adventurous eaters from the beginning, while ensuring you can still get those greens into even the fussiest of kids.

Here are three recipes for AGFG home cooks to try:

"These are one of our favourite food-prep items. They only take 10 minutes to whip up and make enough for a few brekkies. We love to switch up the fillings and you can add just about anything. They’re bound by gelatin, which adds protein to your little one’s morning oats and is also great for gut health.”

Broccoli finally gets the hero moment it deserves in these healthy cheesy balls - these flavour bombs are packed with greens and quinoa and loaded with goodness. Bite into the crispy exterior and savour the creamy centre, all the while knowing you’re nourishing your little one with every delicious bite.

This hearty dish is a great way to get lentils into your little one’s diet. It’s also a beautiful vegetarian alternative to traditional Shepherd’s pie and a budget-friendly meal.

This cookbook is exactly what it says it is…a bible of baby food recipes that will become an essential part of any new or existing Mum’s life.
