About Victor's Place

Located at the gateway to McLaren Vale with sweeping views over the rolling hills of the Onkaparinga Gorge, Victor’s Place restaurant is set in a lovingly restored, heritage-listed, 1870s limestone barn. With a menu carefully curated by Executive Chef Chris Bone to follow the seasons, sourcing produce from small local producers who share an ethos for quality and true flavour, dishes are designed to accompany the textures and expression of Varney Wines. Delve into the likes of Southern calamari, glazed with chicken and red lentil miso butter, kelp, sunrose, garden leaves, chicken fat and lemon emulsion to start; before free-range pork two ways, with smoked barbeque sauce, charred leek and Spring beans. Finish with green sour apple sorbet, strawberry, butter-poached apple and spice.

Wonderful wedding anniversary lunch
We have throughly enjoyed celebrating our 11th wedding anniversary with a three-course menu with one of us having it with a paired wine. The service was outstanding with friendly and knowledgeable staff, including an on-site sommelier. Everything starting from fresh, homemade sourdough bread to dessert was beautifully presented and tasted fantastic. The combinations of Australian and locally grown ingredients were spot on. My favourite entree was shiitake dim sims with a spicy sauce and my husband enjoyed his chicken sausage with mulberry jam and fresh figs. Our mains were lamb that was perfectly tender and mulloway with mussels. It was the first time I've ever tried mussels - they were cooked perfectly and complimented the whole dish. The jus was well-balanced and the fish was tender with a crispy skin. Our desserts were cherry ice cream with a biscuit that was beautiful and passion fruit bomb that looked amazing. Overall, a beautiful setting for a special occasion. A hidden gem on the way to McLaren Vale. We will definitely be back soon. Thank you to all staff for a wonderful experience.
