About The Pickled Herring

Travel to Two Rocks if only to enjoy fresh seafood straight out of Western Australian waters at The Pickled Herring restaurant on the marina. Fresh sea breezes and dazzling sunsets over the harbour are given a soundtrack of regular live music to ensure locals keep returning to this lively, family friendly restaurant. Groups large and small find delight in an extensive dine-in and takeaway menu offering lunch options like Kilpatrick oysters, salt and pepper squid, chilli mussels and smoked salmon salad and dinners such as fettuccine marinara and seafood platters with an abundance of succulent fish and crustaceans. Those averse to eating creatures of the sea need not worry with options like classic scotch fillet, caramelised pork belly and Thai beef salad all served in a Gastro bar style.

Great Service
We took our Grandson out for the day to see the as he says "Abandon Atlantis Statues"... and to top of a great day we had Fish 'n' Chips with Salad he had Chips 'n' Nuggets with Ice Cream n Apple Juice.. he also had a spearmint milk shake... the food was delicious and the batter along with the Chips were exceptionally delicious... My Grand son told the lady he will be back...

DID YOU SAY ICONIC?
Sydneysiders have the iconic restaurant "Doyle's on the beach".... Perthites have "the Herring over the marina"! Of course one is YOUNGer than the other and Two Rocks is not exactly a replica of Watsons Bay but the now awarded " Herring" has found its soul with head chef Neil in charge of the kitchen, surrounded with a smiling and professional team. We have tried the new summer menu; the talented chef is taking you for a journey to a tasty "Bistro cuisine" and his main challenge is now to introduce these sometimes unknown delicacies to the "Sandgropers clientele". As an appetizer or starter, why not experience the pork rillettes (pot slow cooked and shredded with a fork) on garlic toasts with a glass of sparkling or chardy... Seafood entr?es are a must at "the Herring", oysters, prawns, scallops, squids and the refined cured salmon are all faultless in taste and presentation. If you are a table of four, my tip would be to share four different entr?es. For main, the confit of duck is what you would expect from such a confit served in Perigord, crispy skin then melting in the mouth. The exceptional Black Angus steaks are precisely cooked to your taste and the peppercorn sauce makes you feel warm inside. You will not be disappointed either with the char grilled lamb chops with saut?ed chorizo. Interesting desserts featuring an impressive selection of gelato ice creams, pistachio and tim-tam would be my favourite choice to end a fabulous meal.

Stumbled across a local gem hidden away in the Two Rocks Shopping precinct. The Pickled Herring is one of those small venues that pops up every now and then and is surprisingly good. A good size menu for the the size of venue there is something for everyone. We started with the house cured salmon subtle and delicate and the Goats cheese soufflé the best we have had yet. Mains we went for the scotch steak and the crispy skin pork belly both were cooked perfectly. Service was attentive and refreshingly casual. The wine list is fairly small but has a good selection. As good as any where we have eaten in the northern suburbs and will definitely be back.

The best place to eat and be seen in Two Rocks, I am eating my way through the menu as there are so many fantastic dishes, you just can't make your mind up. The fish and chips are heavenly, the mussels are amazing and one of my favorites, and you have to try the slow braised Beef Cheeks yum. Also they have hand cut chips, where else do you find this. The chef takes his time and adds love to every dish. From the location to the staff both front of house and back of house. Well worth a visit.

ALLEZ TWO ROCKS!
ALLEZ TWO ROCKS! For several years, Russell Blaikie's "Must Wine Bar" was the only decent place in Perth where you could eat true French bistro food. It has now a challenger, as the Young "Pickled Herring" restaurant in Two Rocks seems to have found its identity with Head Chef Neil and Chef Gabriel, the enthusiastic and talented team in charge of the kitchen, delivering an elegant selection of French bistro dishes as well as classic favourites. You can now choose entr?es from House Charcuteries, Chicken Liver Parfait , Home Cured Salmon and Goat Cheese Souffl?, all with very distinctive tastes, as well as the ever popular Oysters, Garlic Prawns or Squids. Bouillabaisse or Braised Beef Cheeks are part of the main courses together with some classics like Seafood Platter and quality Steaks. Frequent events also contribute to make "The Herring" a lively and very pleasant spot to go with friends. No doubt that the Two Rocks and Yanchep community will make it their favourite eating place. .
