About Tang Dynasty Restaurant

Guests savour views of the sweeping waters of Kingston foreshore while dining in traditional Chinese style at Tang Dynasty Restaurant on Giles Street. Located on Waterfront Dockside, this elegant restaurant is named for its décor, reminiscent of the art deco style of Shanghai in the 1920s and the ancient Tang Dynasty era. A life-sized Tang horse greets diners as they enter to take a seat on luxuriously upholstered furnishings at white clothed tables, to ponder an authentic menu inspired by ethically sourced local produce. Choose from a la carte, banquet and yum cha options, plating up dishes such as pan seared scallops in housemade XO sauce, sizzling grass-fed beef tenderloin with black pepper and onion; or perhaps spicy Kung Po chicken with roasted nuts, garlic stems and jasmine rice.

Great Find - Fabulous Location, Excellent Service and Very Good Food
Truthfully picked this restaurant on Saturday night as it was the only one that had decent availability. Everywhere else wanted a booking and was packed out, as expected at this time of year but we were just visiting Canberra for the weekend.

The service was very friendly, efficient and the owner came out at the end of the evening to thank us for the custom. This is a restaurant where the older members of the family are no longer in a position to run the restaurant and recently the children have taken it over. So, don't go on old reviews.

The food was very good. We had scallops, spring rolls, peking duck pancakes, honey prawns (not those horrid battered types but plump fresh and delicately coated) and a few other items. Yes, even the deep fried ice cream was coated in moist shredded coconut, not desiccated coconut - delicious :)

This is restaurant that deserves your attention if you like quality Chinese food. Don't be fooled by the current lack of patronage - I'm sure that will change soon, so enjoy it now.

It's a Good Restaurant
I can guarantee that if someone comes here once then he will come to this restaurant again and again. Also, it is not just me who likes this place but my friends and even my entire family are in love with this restaurant for their amazing dishes. I come here 4 to 5 times in a month and sometimes with my friends or family as well as sometimes even alone. Highly recommended!

Delicious food
Delicious food and i can recommend this restaurant. I went their with my friend for Chinese and Asian food and fully satisfied with the taste and service of them.
