About Taita's House
Traditional Lebanese homestyle meals made Grandma’s way are on the menu at Taita’s House on St George Road in Thornbury. Named after the Arabic word for grandmother, this casual cottage restaurant has a shabby chic feel with exposed brick, painted concrete and white subway tiles indoors; while the laneway and garden are ideal for catching up with family and friends. Settle in and admire the knick-knacks on shelves as you peruse a menu sure to tempt all tastes; perhaps kickstart your culinary adventure with smoked eggplant dip and fried pita bread, along with a selection of pickled turnips, cucumber and green onions. Perhaps share a kibbeh platter - ground beef, spice and pine nut meatballs coated with bulgur wheat and served with hummus, labneh, tomato, mint, pickles, turnips and pita.
