Tucked down a Melbourne laneway, Syracuse Restaurant & Wine Bar evokes a wholly other time and place. The ornate archways, soaring ceilings and curving chandeliers of a 19th Century bank create an impression of grandeur, though soft lighting and an assortment of tables and chairs keep the mood romantic and welcoming. Wine bottles displayed in various nooks and crannies hint at Syracuse’s vast and varied wine selection, which the menu is designed to match. Cured kingfish, beetroot, hazelnut hummus and pickled mussel may entice to start, before tempting mains of sirloin steak, Romanesco, broad bean and smoked goats’ curd, or pumpkin gnocchi, gorgonzola, spinach and pine nut. Divine desserts of chocolate mousse, butterscotch, Cocoa Nibs biscuit and minted ice cream, finish off the meal well.

Syracuse offers European-inspired cuisine in a grand and impressive 19th Century atmosphere, located in one of Melbourne's picturesque, laneways; 23 Bank Place.

Syracuse's menu is produce driven cuisine at its best; meals are prepared using seasonal, Victorian sourced produce delivered fresh daily.

We aim for all our produce to be locally grown, sustainable and organic wherever possible. Vegetarian dishes are on the menu and dietary requirements are looked after or made to suit what ever the guest needs.

Syracuse boasts an extensive list of some 500 wines; featuring wines prominently from Australia and a large variety of internationals from France, Italy and the United States of America.

Open for breakfast, lunch & dinner Monday to Friday. Diners can enjoy lunch and dinner on Saturday. Syracuse is available for private events 7 days a week.

Tucked away in a laneway of Melbourne city, this restaurant presents a nice environment with great food. Service is good and the staff are attentive. The winelist is excellent. This would have to be one of my favorite restaurants.
