I first found out about the Downtown Pizza Bar when visiting my uncle who was a local Darlinghurst resident. Our dinner down at the local pub was quickly traded in for pizzas and jazz music once the pizza bar had opened. The Pizza bar always has such an inviting and welcoming vibe and the owners Jay and Lisa always had such a warm and friendly approach. We soon got the know Jay and Lisa as we became quiet the regulars. My daughters 21st was quickly approaching and Jay and Lisa were kind enough to close the pizza bar down for the night so we could host our own private party there. All our guests left feeling full and satisfied after what was a delicious spread of pizzas, tapas and their speciality Nutella pizza. It was a great location with views of the harbour and created an intimate setting for our friends and family to enjoy. It was such a great night enjoyed by all. My uncle soon passed away and we had the dilemma of trying to prepare a funeral and a wake. Not knowing the area very well, it was uncertain where to host the wake. Expressing my frustration to Jay and Lisa one night whilst at dinner, they were so kind to offer out the pizza bar once again. They were both so happy to come in and open up on their day off and before what would have been normal trading hours. Jay and Lisa once again put on a great spread and really catered to our needs on all levels. They really have gone above and beyond.l for their customers. Their love for what they do, passion and enthusiasm really shows in everything they do. They have created such a tasteful and enjoyable eatery that boasts a delicious menu, a great, welcoming vibe all within a trendy, rustic set up.

On a weekend on the Cross with my wife and two friends we needed a cheap place to stay and a good local to hibernate the nights away in. The hotel was easy but a good cheap restaurant with the vibe and chill to keep us happy was a tougher customer. Luckily just down he road was the Downtown Pizza Bar - with a nice atmosphere and chilled customers sitting in the outdoor balcony area. We'd walked past a few times on the first day and decreed that we'd at least give it a go because, let's face it who doesn't like pizza? So. Day two. Time for the pizza and chill. We were very pleasantly surprised by the friendly owners and decent menu on offer. We started easy with a few cocktails and a quick bite - a pizza that had lovely hand-spun dough and a fiery sauce that complemented the sweet tangy over-sauce and delectable slices of pepperoni. Suitably noshed we left for the night of debauchery and dishonesty, but sated with sage knowledge that the following night we would return for more of the goodness of pizza and cocktails, not to mention the Uno we played copious hands of, raucously reliving our many and varied childhoods. A must if you want decent food - I didn't mention the croquettes, try the croquettes(!) - a nice atmosphere with locwly voices crooning to chillaxed beats as you slam down the draw 4's and sip away on your frosty cocktails. Get in there folks. Have pizza. Eat your fill. Lick your fingers and don't look back until it comes time to pay the bill which each time was not nearly as stiff as the fare would have us think it had cost. Drink it up, live it up and take my advice, try the croquettes.

Amazing location. Fantastic atmosphere. Very similar to locations to places in Smith St and Brunswick St in Melbourne!! Hidden treasure of Sydney. Will be visiting every time I'm in Sydney!! :-D

The best pizza in Sydney
I love Downtown Pizza. Not only are the wood-fired pizzas delicious (the proscuitto is my personal fave!), but the staff are always so friendly and welcoming. The deck is the perfect place to meet up with friends on a summer's evening, especially with the amazing array of cocktails and wines - the chilli martini is a must-try! There is live music most nights of the week and it's conveniently located in the heart of darlinghurst, just a stone's throw away from Kings Cross station. Remember to save room for dessert because the Nocciola (Hazelnut chocolate) pizza is to die for. You'll definitely keep coming back for more.

A warm, friendly, funky place to enjoy great food made with passion and love with your family/friends. The place it self is cosy, inviting and very hip, the dim lighting makes you feel relax right away. The food is made to order, super fresh and super tasty! The staff are friendly and always ready to make you feel comfortable. A great place for weekly dinners and weekend drinks! There's also live music and trivia on Tuesday.

This place is absolutely INCREDIBLE! The artwork catches your eye from the street and the amazing smell of pizza draws you in and we had to try this place out! SO GLAD WE DID! Once we got in we were surprised to find soothing sounds of live music!!!! I just want to ad that the pizza oven itself is a piece of artwork, its stunning! We ordered some yummy cocktails and pizza and played connect four whilst we waited, this kept our 4 year old entertained til the food came out a short while later, what a great idea! The pizza was absolutely divine!!! I will not go anywhere else in Sydney for woodfired pizza, it is our favourite family spot and we eat here on a regular weekly basis. The staff are ALWAYS friendly and the food great. Thanks for always supplying a great night out guys! Make sure u try the dessert pizza ppl!

Great atmosphere, attentive staff, brilliant live music and some of the best pizza I've tasted outside of Italy. Awesome venue for a great night out
