About Mamma Pita

Drawing inspiration from ancient recipes, Mamma Pita on High Street in Northcote puts Greek on a plate. A corner glass frontage ensures natural light abounds in this cosmopolitan restaurant, where neon signage glows brightly in the evening and indoors a sassy red feature wall with a cartoon belly dancer, dominates a warm ambiance while lively conversation adds a buzz to surrounds. Cooked over a combination of charcoal and lava for a perfect smoky taste, expect menu tempters such as classic lamb gyros with Greek style chips, tzatziki, Greek salad and pita bread; or perhaps delve into shish tawook – grilled chicken skewers, marinated in yoghurt and Mamma's Egyptian recipe, served with salad, tzatziki and rice. Housemade baklava looms as an indulgent, sweet finish.

Awesome Greek food!!
“Best Greek restaurant in town!!” Pending review Ok, so we're a fussy Greek family who couldn't be bothered cooking for the night. Had driven past this gem a few times and thought we'd give it a go. We were not disappointed!! The pork souvlakis were divine and so tender, moist and delicious. Given my father is a butcher, my meat standards are high. Looking around the restaurant, the ambiance is lovely, low volume Greek music in the background, wonderful service and lots of happy faces enjoying their meals. To top off the evening, we enjoyed the Greek donuts (aka loukoumades). We were treated with salted caramel, Nutella and a honey/walnut selection. These little babies were delicious, light and fluffy. We wanted to lick the bowl clean but restrained ourselves unwillingly. Do yourself a favour and give this restaurant a try. You will be back. We sure will be!!!!

Amazing!!!!!!!
Caught up with an old mate for dinner. George was a great host. Started with a variety of freshly made dips with warm pita.... A delicious appetiser to set the ball rolling. The haloumi chips are to die for as is the eggplant. The lamb and chicken were tender and juicy with just the perfect amount of spice. For the quality of food I was pleasantly surprised at the bill at the end of the night. A warm friendly atmosphere in a beautiful surround.... Thanks for the great experience George and we’ll definitely be back....

Great Food, Service and surprisingly Cheap
Looking to go for drinks with a friend and saw the food being served out to other tables which looked delicious, especially how the other customers were devouring the food. What started as a drink ended with dips, assorted meats and sweets. Food was great and it didn’t break the bank- definitely revisiting ????A1+

Excellent in all fromts
This restaurant is one of the best I’ve been too when it comes to Greek food. It offers simple delicious dishes and non of the over the top try hard modern cuisine. Simplicity is what most Australians want at a reasonable price without the high profile chefs trying to up sell their creations that are full of empty space food. Service is impeccable and attentive and they catered for many of our allergies. Will be my favourite restaurant of all times. This is coming from me personally as someone who ran the most successful middle eastern for thirty years. Good on you guys and good on you Paula for giving Melbourne an authentic Greek/ Middle Eastern Restaurant. Waleed Talj
