About General Charlie Cafe

Filipino fusion fare with flair is on offer at General Charlie Café on Clarke Street in Crows Nest. Sunny Sydney days guarantee the patio is buzzing with guests enjoying a drink or treat, while comfy seating inside this light, bright and airy café makes for a calming oasis to linger over lunch, among potted palms and trailing ivy. Grab an organic Fair Trade tea or coffee to go with breaky tempters like dukkah eggs, smashed avo, feta, rocket, tomato and sourdough; while lunch-goers wrap their hands around Bugsy’s beef burger, tomato, onion, cheese, rocket, Charlie’s special sauce and crispy fries. Perhaps house specialty Filo-style marinated pork, garlic fired rice, egg, atchara and green chilli vinegar dipping sauce tempts; or smoked fish, stir-fried rice, fried eggs and pickled papaya.

Love this cafe. Great coffee. Always fresh and delicious food.

Tapsilog must try

Big Almusal indeed
I love the service, the food, and the presentation. Definitely worth it.

Happy Diner here
When I think about this cafe, I only have good words.
Service - Great!
Coffee - So Good!
Food - Even better!
Mind you, this cafe gets quite busy during the weekends, so try to come on a less busy weekday to enjoy the food and the service. The staff are lovely and attentive. Kitchen is clean and open. Overall, a great dining experience for me. Went here on a Saturday a few weeks ago, it was packed but despite that the food delivery was quick and presented well. Came back again on a Wednesday to try the other dishes. Again, was very pleased with the experience. I'm trying to work my way down their Filipino food menu. Can't wait to try the others. Keep it up guys.

Good Coffee, Great Food, Amazing Service
We came on a weekend and was already busy at 9am, there was a queue but the wait wasn't long. When we were seated to our table, we were given the menu and the day's specials. The service is very good. The cafe ambiance is airy and fresh and very green which we love. Orders were taken at the counter which is pretty standard for small cafes in Sydney. We ordered the Charlie's Tapsi, Adobowl and Sinigang Fried Rice and some coffees. Our wait for the food wasn't that long at all. Their staff are very attentive and quick. The beef tapa was delicious - meat was soft and tender. We loved the garlic rice and their home made atchara and vinegar. Adobo was great -- not too saucy or dry. The Sinigang Fried Rice is very tasty and my favorite! The serving size for all each meal was not too big - just right for one person. We were quite happy with the presentation and we will definitely be back for more. Can't wait to try the Ube french toast. We meant to have dessert but got full after our meals.

Filipino Dish at its Best
Tried their Tapsilog and I'm very happy with it. They make their own atchara and green chilli vinegar dip to go with it too. Will definitely come back.

Great Food, Amazing Crew
Definitely a must try if you're in Sydney. Loved the vibe, food and staff.

Must Try Cafe
Not your average Filipino restaurant. Coffee is of medium blend so it's not bitter, in fact, it is very crisp and smooth just how I like it. Food is well presented. Staff are helpful and friendly. Small cafe but the ambiance makes up for it. I think it seats about 15 inside which is cozy and doesnt make it so noisy and busy despite it being full on weekends. There is a high chair available for my toddler. yay.

Unforgettable Dining Experience
My friend recommended me to visit this cafe as she frequents the place since its opening a few months ago. And I understand why. The cafe staff is very friendly, the food offered is quite good at a reasonable price. The servings are just right for one and OMG the ube french toast is to die for.

Filipino Food at its Finest
Filipino restaurants are very hard to find here in Australia and I am so lucky I stumbled upon this cafe. The food is great, service if topnotch and coffee is smooth AF.

Delectable dishes in such a homey atmosphere
General Charlie has captured my heart! They brought me back home with their Filipino-inspired dishes. I loved their Big Silog and Ube French Toast! Be sure to try their Sinigang Fried Rice, Chicken Adobo and Kamote Latte! I'll be back to try the rest of their mouthwatering, belly-filling, heartwarming menu! Thank you!

Great food, filo brekkie, coffee and milkshakes!
Generous serving, great twist to filo breakfast cuisine, cozy place, and great service and friendly staff!
