About Charlie Dumpling

Fill the humble dumpling with a range of fresh flavour combinations and you have Charlie Dumpling, an Asian fusion restaurant found in Prahran. Aptly reflecting the urban cool vibe of Melbourne’s iconic dining scene, this space uses a patchwork of wicker crafted lighting, timber industrial fittings and colourful murals to beckon the city’s trend-savvy diners inside – and it’s what’s on offer that keeps them coming back for more. Yum cha classics are given a new life at Charlie Dumpling – think prawn dumplings with chive and water chestnut, yuzu kosho and shiso dressing – while their contemporary snapper, chilli, peanut and black bean dumplings are said to be popular among the dinner crowd. For dessert, why not try Charlie’s chocolate peanut butter dumplings with a raspberry chilli sorbet?

Next level dumplings at Charlie
Peking duck dumplings with chicken skin crackling. Yes, that’s what I said. No, this is not a typo. And that’s just the start at Prahran’s Charlie Dumpling. People who know me (and probably a few who don’t) know I love nothing more than a good dumpling. And I’d been wanting to check Charlie out ever since I sampled their crazy good offerings at the Night Noodle Markets last November. My dad was in town, so Tony (my husband) and I decided to take him there for dinner on Saturday night. He's never really understood what all the dumpling fuss was about... until now.
