About Bai Tong Thai Tempe

Even if you have no reason to visit Sydney’s inner west, it’s well worth discovering the little gem that is Bai Tong Thai. Located across from the new Ikea in Tempe, this owner operated eatery serves up a refreshingly unique play on authentic Thai dishes in a relaxed contemporary setting. Bai Tong Thai’s chefs have earned awards and considerable recognition for their dishes, which range from classic curries and stir fries to the more unusual choor muang (steamed violet-hued dumplings filled with caramelised peanut and smoked duck) and crystal prawn dumplings served with black vinegar. The ingredients used are all market fresh and if you’re after steamed fish, the Chef will source the freshest local catch for you the day before you dine.

If you crave authentic Thai spice and flavour, eat here!
Visit Bai Tong, if, like me you have become bored with how most Thai restaurants in inner Sydney rely too much on coconut milk and sugar to adapt the food to a 'western' palate. Bai Tong has become my go to place for lunch in recent months, every dish freshly pan fried by an expert chef and served in a pleasant restaurant environment. The Pad Kee Mao is exceptional both for flavour and value, extra wide hand made rice noodles with a generous portion of, in my case, vegetables and tofu. I never get tired of going back to eat here, in fact I am salivating right now.
