About Rising Sun Inn

Escape the hustle and bustle of Adelaide city at boutique bar and restaurant Rising Sun Inn on tranquil Bridge Street in Kensington. Steeped in history dating back to the 1840s, this hidden gem oozes charm and a warm, inviting ambience from heritage listed brick walls, leadlight windows and comfy black leather couches, where guests can cosy up fireside with a drink in hand and peruse a Mod Oz menu brimming with creative fare. White tablecloths and mood lighting await in the dining room, where starters such as sticky braised pork belly with green apple, herbs, slaw and salted peanut caramel beckon, before delving into a main such as rabbit, mushroom and tarragon potato pot pie with hasselback celeriac. If there is room to spare, try a decadent chocolate fondant with caramel mousse.

Excellent, top quality, wonderful service, sensational ambience
We had friends join us from the Gold Coast, they had been doing the wineries big wine buffs. We booked the private dining room the same that Rising Sun Enterprises started out in, they are responsible for Lord of Rings franchise and Game of Thrones, had a magic night, food, service the BEST, and then to top it off, an exclusive wine they had tried to buy at the Cellar Door but was unable to, was there at the Restaurant.... SO of course our friends purchased it, then the owner let us all get behind the bar to have photos taken, an unforgettable night was had by all, NOT TO BE MISSED

Back on the list
Have had an unintentional break from the Rising Sun, but chances across it randomly for an impromptu Friday night dinner, and are we glad we did. The food, the service, the menu and wine list were all amazing. We shared a main of Zucchini Flowers as we both live them and rarely see them. They were awesome, beautifully cooked, well balanced and crispy batter. I had the 500gm Rib Eye, cooked rare to perfection, with a sensational Red Wine jus accompanied with duck fat chips and a 3 cheese roasted shallot (yummy!). My wife had a Gnocchi special, with beef, mushrooms and bacon, and it too was excellent. We shared a bottle of French bubbles for the very reasonable price of $50, and I of course had a pint (proper 568ml) of Cooper's Session Ale (The Rising Sun often has Coopers Vintage Ale on tap) and again very reasonable $10 pints, considering the size. Sensational atmosphere, phenomenally friendly staff (thanks John and Gavin). This is definitely a hidden jewel that we will soon be returning to. Do yourself a favour, head on by and enjoy one of the beautiful authentic leather chesterfields in the sitting room and grab a great bottle of wine!
