Retreat after long city days to The Bibliotheca Bar & Book Exchange, tucked away on Gresham Street in the heart of Adelaide’s CBD. This hole-in-the-wall venue offers an intimate, European inspired space to unwind in over a drink with friends or simply relax with a good book, warmed by soft lighting and surrounded by shelves of liquor and novels. Though a handful of gourmet dishes are available, such as rustic open sandwiches filled with the likes of prosciutto, ricotta and figs, it’s an impressive beverage list and largest single malt collection in town that keeps visitors coming back. Each cocktail is a story concocted into existence, like the Smoke on the Water, a combination of rum, pomegranate and coffee liquors with coffee bean smoke in a tribute to one of Deep Purple’s famous tunes.
