Innovative Eurasian food in an Oriental oasis
Stepping into Chapels on Whatley is like being transported to another country and era. The interior is filled with an eclectic mix of oriental knick knacks and Wedgewood China tea sets, some of which are for sale. The overall effect is of a curio shoppe or cave of wonders. The service is fantastic and the vibe relaxed, the perfect place to spend a lazy weekend afternoon brunching or lunching. The menu is exciting with dishes drawing influences from Korea, China, India and Indonesia, amongst others. Patrons are spoilt for choice here. The drinks menu is similarly extensive. If there's one thing you must try, though, it's the delectably moist and slightly nutty chocolate quinoa cake. Not overly rich but instead perfectly more-ish, this was a great way to end our meal and left me lusting after their $50 high tea. I can't wait to return!
