This city institution has taken more than 25 years to refine as foodies enjoy leisurely lunching in sophisticated surrounds of antique furniture, light fittings, mirrors, dark wood and moody lighting. Wooden ceiling beams add a classic touch along with wine racks and an extensively stocked bar, ideal for whiling away time with a glass of Italian white or red; paired with potato and semolina gnocchi, white ragu of pork neck, chilli and fennel seeds. Contemplate mains like braised rabbit leg, white wine, caramelised onions, green olives and soft polenta; for a divine dolci, enjoy cassata-flavoured semi-frozen gelato, candied fruit, nuts and chocolate.

Impeccable Food and wonderful Service
It was with some elation that I noted the reopening of this gourmand's delight after the Covid19 Lockdown in Melbourne. The food and selection was as mouthwatering as before, nothing was left wanting in terms of superb service and wine. A devotee for more than 20 years, I took great pleasure in booking a private function for a Milestone 60th Birthday celebration in honour of my husband, for 26 people and very much looked forward to introducing my guests and interstate attendees to the fine quality and delicious menu that only Caterina and her talented team, including Chef Marcello can offer. They did not disappoint! Seamless guest management, incredible food and matched wines, extraordinary palate pleasers with texture, aroma and visuals all tantalising the taste-buds. All our guests were blown away by the food and the staff. Even our Gluten intolerant and Vegan/Vegetarian guests were met with a thoughtfully devised selection of appetising and gourmet choices. The ambience and sophistication of the restaurant was juxtaposed against the beautiful oak beams, the mix of Art Deco and rustic decor and the great music in the background. The wait staff and chef pulled out all the stops and the entire place was awash with candles to add to the mood. Devotees of luncheons at this wonderful place, we now count the birthday celebration as one of the best meals of our lives. Its all about the food here, with amazing daily specials that make it hard to look at the menu. Accompanied by an excellent wine list, and an authentic if not eclectic ambiance, this is a must go place for lunch. Caterina is always there and a warm and engaging host.
