Authentic chinese cuisine! Fast and excellent service Good portions. Will definitely recommend. Worthy of the 1 Michelin hat.
Our family comes here all the time, Yum Cha or Dinner in either Launceston or Hobart and its always exceptional and the staffing is fabulous. Steven Tso should be very proud of his team in both ends of the state. If all their awards don't say it then I'm not sure what does. Keep up the good work and I'll see you tonight for the Silk Banquet in Launceston :)

Unravel the culinary mysteries of Me Wah’s menu, perusing through many delectable banquet options that lay down a path for discovery, or embark on an unchartered flavour journey through a tantalising selection of la carte dishes. Perhaps begin with 12 hour slow braised Perkins Bay whole abalone with flower mushroom, steamed seasonal vegetables and ormer reduction before moving to sautéed sliced Wagyu sirloin with wasabi soya and salt and pepper eggplant strips.

Located in the heart of Sandy Bay; only a short walk from Hobart's famous Salamanca Place and Wrest Point Casino, Me Wah Hobart is Tasmania's first upmarket Chinese restaurant and Australia's highest awarded Asian restaurant. Me Wah offers the quintessential dining experience; the extensive menu encompasses both classical and innovative Cantonese dishes using the best produce in Tasmania. Entreés such as the Moreton Bay bug, heavenly highlighted by spicy salt and five spices, or the steamed scallops with ginger and spring onions, will pique your interest but save your applause for the mains. The double- braised greenlip abalone is a true delight; sauteéd Tasmanian crayfish with garlic butter served with handmade egg noodles is a savvy choice and the glossily lacquered Peking duck is just exemplary. In addition, the house-made XO sauce adds complexity to the flavours of most dishes. Masterchef Gordon Tso has dedicated much of his time to ensure that the best ingredients are selected for their quality to his very own unique recipes in order to please every palate.The sophisticated menu is substantially supported by an impressive, well-chosen wine list. A good balance between local and international wines and nonetheless a significant collection of rice wines are evident. Three private function rooms are available from an intimate, eight person seating up to 50 people for a larger private celebration or corporate event while the main dining area can be seated up to 130 people. The ambience is perfect for both casual dining or a serious night out. The beautiful screens, paintings and glass walls with Chinese motifs made the interior looked even more lavish.With sensational food, an incredible wine list, a sumptuous dining room and unparalleled service from maître d Stephen Tso and his team members, Me Wah has the hallmark of true excellence.
