The degustation menu for my birthday dinner was probably one of the top meals I've had in Melbourne and we've had quite a lot of degustation menus. Every course was beautiful, consistent and the
ingredients were paired perfectly. Service was excellent without being over the top. Especially loved the poached ocean trout and the bombe Alaska. It was an experience I won't forget.
We went to Sun Wah for our anniversary, and treated ourselves to the 7 course feedme menu with matching wine. We were not disappointed and had a very enjoyable evening. The food is very unique and is great to have a place so close to home. I would have to say the starters were the best with the ginger pear scallops and the lamb ribs being the highlights. But the mains of eyefillet and oceantrout were amazing as well cooked to perfection. To end with the amazing dessert platter was superb. We weren't expecting this. The staff were excellent and truly made it a dining experience. Great atmosphere, I will return.

Amazing food, we had the 8-course chef degustation with matched wines. This really added an extra element to our evening. The sommelier was knowledgeable and passionate, and we loved learning about all the wines they had matched the dishes perfectly. Best Asian degustation I ever had. Beats flower drum hands down at half the price. Thanks sun wah..

Had heard lots of good reviews about this restaurant and we found them to be true. We had a simple dinner with 3 entrees, 1 main and steamed rice and it was all delicious. The service was beautifully attentive without being smoothering. The stand out and star of the evening for both of us was the Salt
Fabulous modern asian food. This place exceeded our expectations because their menu is out of the norm, nothing you would expect in an asian eatery plus the price is an absolute steel for the quality of ingredients used. Food was exceptionally good. I loved the lamb ribs and the ginger pear scallops and the main of hopkins river eyefillet and the ocean trout was superb. The produce was of the highest quality plus the taste and texture was amazing. It is deserving of its awards and great quality and service. Will be back!
Great chef's dinner at sun wah last night. Food was superb and reasonably priced as well. Wasn't expecting such a varied modern menu. And the staff were very friendly and efficient.
We are on a foodie adventure to check chef hatted restaurant in the guide and managed to stumble upon this place. Who would have thought a local suburban eatery could manage to be award winning and boy they deserve to be there with the top melbourne restaurants!! We had the degustation menu and every dish was to perfection. The ginger pear scallops was my favourite. So delicate yet bursting with flavour. Plus lovely wines to match each course. It was truly inspirational to find an asian restaurant that could produce such a creative and quality menu at a decent price. Even the desserts just melted in your mouth. It was like heaven. I would love to try the menu backwards....
Wow what a great degustation dinner. A wonderful dining experience. Absolutely fantastic food, nothing to fault. My favourite dish has to be the ginger pear scallops with pork belly and the stuffed chicken. Absolutely mouth watering. And the dessert......yummm....the dessert platter loved everything on this plate. And the service was pretty good overall and a nice touch to have the chef come out to serve the dessert..Amazing food. Very original and artfully presented. A very special dining experience not commonly find in an asian restaurant. Recommend you try the degustation menu..
we have been to Sun Wah a couple times now and both times the food was exceptional and service outstanding. The spicy squid is the best i have eaten anywhere!! certainly a place worth visiting if you want some good food
