Nice vibe with tasty food. The lamb was a bit tough. Pear on the cheese pizza was an interesting addition. Service perhaps too attentive. Overall a good experience and shelter from Hobarts rain. Try it.

We went to SMolt upon recommendation from our hotel's concierge. The place was good. As for the food, I had the seafood linguini which had the most exquisite sauce i have tasted, however i felt that the house made linguini could be slightly thinner.Overall we had a good experience.

The venison was superb! Highly recommend. Also, try the croquets and arancini balls

Overrated! Lamb was over cooked and the only nice dish we had was arancini.

More Sydney chic Than Melbourne cool. Nice tight menu excited brilliantly. Real emphasis on exciting flavour combinations.

After having having had it suggested to us, by the friendly efficient waitress, to choosing a progressive surprise dinner, we agreed. As we knew that Scott the chef, was the recipient of a major culinary award, we anticipated something special and we were not disappointed. Starters were, house special bread, with reduced olive oil. With a selection of warm olives. very tasty, then an appealing platter of four sample tasters, creative and excellent. Then as mains, (a) a roasted tassel salmon, orange, faro & fennel braise, caramelized pork belly, spring bay mussels, gremolata, skordalia, (b) a rolled back lamb saddleback, garlic mash, swede and apple purée, with mint and parsley salad, bacon jus. Again absolutely divine, cooked to perfection. Finishing with a very good three cheese board accompanied by nuts, sliced apple and sweet chutney. The courses were accompanied by Tasmanian wines, which were excellent, particularly the Pinot noir. The restaurant is modern, elegant and comfortable, with exceptionally good intelligent service. A must visit.

Love everything about Smolt. It's the first place we head to when in Hobart (from Sydney) and so wish it was around the corner from where we live. Sensational food from an adventurous, creative kitchen, a wonderful wine list with a good selection of luscious local (Tassie) wines (most of which are not available let alone heard of in Sydney), and fantastic service from an attentive, knowledgeable host and his lovely floor staff. Absolutely no attitude or pretentiousness as experienced in many 'upmarket' Sydney restaurants. Long may Smolt be.
