Where are some of the best beaches for sun and surf in Western Australia?
In Broome, Cable Beach is one of Australia’s most famous beaches situated on one of the world’s most beautiful coastlines on a stretch of 22 kilometres of white sand and azure blue waters. A picture perfect panorama, Cable Beach is a long, flat beach popular amongst both visitors and locals, particularly at dawn, where a spectacular west Australian sunset unfolds and you can even jump on the back of a camel and ride along the sand if you so wish.
A bustling beach for swimming, sunbathing and recreational beach activities, Middleton Beach is situated in state’s south of Albany, famous for its several esplanade hotels. With a jetty and pontoon in the summer, Middleton Beach is a family beach best enjoyed on a day trip, with several cafes, restaurants and takeaway shops within walking distance.
For some of the state’s best waves, head to the south west, a well known region for some of the best surfing beaches in Australia. The Margaret River is home to waves for over 40 kilometres of coastline, an undisputed surfing paradise in the south west of the state. Rottnest Island promises visitors big swells and powerful breaks, particularly around Strickland, Salmon and Stark Bay. North of Perth, Geraldton boasts conditions for everybody, from beginners to the more experienced surfer.
