Information & Tasting Notes
Situated in the heart of the Mornington Peninsula wine region, Port Phillip Estate is part of the Gjergja family domain. The maritime climate and southerly latitude combined with the estate's deep red loam soils are ideal for cool climate viticulture.
The 2005 vintage was characterised by a mild summer with a beautiful warm autumn. Warm still days provided excellent ripening conditions. Pinot Noir grapes were picked in early April.
Bright and ruby red in colour, this wine exhibits rich aromas of forest berries and dark cherries. Cherry and raspberry fruit flavours are dominant. Rich, juicy and meaty, the succulent palate is supported by new French oak and powdery tannins. The wine is tightly structured and elegant.
