Information & Tasting Notes
Pisa Range Estate is a family-owned boutique vineyard established in 1995 by Warwick & Jenny Hawker.
The Pisa Range Estate label was launched with the 2000 vintage. Winemaker, Rudi Bauer is acknowledged as one of New Zealand's top Pinot Noir winemakers. Since the vineyard began its first small production he has been making Pisa Range Estate wines under contract at his Quartz Reef winery.
The 2006 vintage was a classic textbook vintage – good weather during flower set with the warm settled weather continuing over summer and into early autumn. The vines were beautifully balanced producing excellent fruit quality and good tonnage. The wine has matured in French oak barriques (one third new) for one year. Bottling took place in March 2007.
Ruby in colour, this wine is Distinctly Pisa Range Estate. Enticingly scented with perfumed wild herbs on the nose. On the palate sweet-fruit flavours of cherries and spices seasoned with toasty oak are supported by very tightly knit tannins.
