About Carnarvon

Carnarvon is in the Gascoyne Region located in the state of Western Australia. The post code for Carnarvon is 6701.

Since its first settlement in 1876, the huge Gascoyne district centred at Carnarvon has traditionally supported pastoralists, but irrigated plantations of tropical fruit and vegetables, and a prawning industry are now equally important. The irrigation is drawn from bores sunk in the sands of the Gascoyne River, which curiously flows along just below its bed.
