What a fabulous dining experience to stumble across quite by accident. Authentic Italian food, coupled with genuinely enthusiastic and passionate staff who clearly love their craft. The owners were welcoming, charismatic and warm, and the service was fast. Highly recommended and shall be on my favorite list for this area!

Flavoursome, colourful, lively and noisy. This is northern Italian food at its best with serious consideration for the seasons and fresh produce. The wine list is impressive and full of unique Italian grape styles with some Pensinsula locals. Daily specials augment a good homely menu.

A bruschetta with pumpkin, thyme and goats cheese is simple and masterly as is a stunning fettucine with proscuitto and mushroom - just the right amount of yeast flavours from dried and reconstituted porcini mushrooms complemented by the saltiness of good honest proscuitto.

Having just returned from Italy, Acquolina's flavours are distinctly authentic, with memorable mains such as slow cooked belly of veal with polenta, and roasted whole spatchcock with grapes and gratin potatoes.

We particularly loved the housemade Gelato Artigianale presenting the flavours of real vanilla, pistachio and dark chocolate.

This is the essence of a cafe with character and replicates the informality and passion of a family-run cafe with regional flavours of astonishing originality. We will come back to Sorrento and Acquolina. Bravo.

Words can not express how appauled we were at our experience at this restaurant. After requesting water from a waitress upon arrival, I was told it was self service. I had to dodge an overcrowded courtyard where tables were too close together to reach the watercooler - accidentaly breaking 5 glasses over a neighbouring table, broken glass going in their food. After apologizing and having to clean up the glass ourselves, the waitresses did nothing. The poor woman had a cut hand, and glass down her blouse. I had a cut foot and had to clean the glass myself. The food had glass in it as did the drinks with no assistance from staff. After a request by us for the waitress to 'use her initiative and help us clean up', we were then abused by the head chef, the table with the damaged food had to wait another 1 1/2 hours for 2 replacement meals. When both tables proceeded to pay, our table was charged for 8 main meals (when there was only 5 people), along with 2 rounds of drinks from the table beside us. We thought it was not worth the argument, and paid the $593 bill. The table beside us was then asked to pay for all their meals as well. When we questioned why the other table had to pay also (as it was not fair), we were all abused and shoving erupted from the head chef/owner. We were all then told (expletives removed) to "get out of my restaurant, I dont care, do not pay, just never come back". Both parties left the premises, and was a short while later chased down the street by abusive kitchen staff requesting the other party to pay.

Both tables (previously unknown to each other) were hysterical by the whole experience and very shaken. Other patrons from the courtyard comforted us and shook our hands, they too could not believe what they had witnessed. Owners and chef are clearly leading by example with their unprofessional and down right rude behaviour, as their staff were just as appauling.

Extremely unimpressive. Poor (slow & rude) service, average food & expensive. I'd recommend looking elsewhere.
