Komeyui Japanese Restaurant evolved from chef/owner Motomu Kumano’s desire to introduce Port Melbourne locals to the exquisite, authentic dishes found in Japan. The restaurant’s simple wooden interior echoes the traditional Japanese cooking methods employed in the kitchen, like use of the hagama (cast iron rice cooker), which diners can observe from the long counter table. Trained at one of Japan’s best culinary schools, they deliver a menu of fresh, tasty & attractively presented dishes you won’t see at your typical Japanese restaurant in Australia. Authentic sushi & sashimi; salmon grilled in foil with miso butter sauce & vegetables; Wagyu tataki topped with soy bubbles; and sake crème brulee are a few delights.
