Paladarr Thai Issan Overview

A multi-award winning Thai restaurant tucked away in leafy suburban Alphington, owners Bryan and Master Chef Chaloem bring classical fine Thai to Melbourne's north-eastern region. Guests are offered a menu showcasing dishes that Chaloem is renowned for since Paladarr's birth in 2005 as well as fresh takes on traditional Thai, matched with a serious but exciting wine list, hand-picked by in-house Sommelier Stuart Quinn. A favourite of the guests is Pla Goong of seared prawns with a dazzling mix of ginger, lemongrass, coriander, spring onion, chilli, lemon juice and fish sauce - a dish acknowledged for its hot, sweet, sour & salty characteristics.

Paladarr is a Cuban word which means a small restaurant in a private home. When owners Bryan Derrick and Master Chef Chaloem purchased the tucked-away restaurant in leafy Alphington in 2005, they discovered to their amazement that Paladarr is also an ancient Thai word which means "circle of friends", reflective of the welcoming atmosphere exuded at Paladarr.

Paladarr has not only survived, but has prospered in Melbourne's suburban Alphington where guests travel far and wide to sample chef Chaloem's eclectic dishes. Offering an elegant array of dining rooms and lovely garden area with subtle Thai elements, including Thai candelabras, golden Buddha's and drapes, Paladarr creates an enchanting ambience.

The attentive staff will gently guide you through the dishes, and the wine list is sharply chosen by the in-house Sommelier to match the cuisine.
